Stop the press! This skull & crossbones necklace is sure to delight.

The Pennsylvania Journal and Weekly Advertiser, was a prominent colonial newspaper that played a significant role leading up to the American Revolution. This skull and crossbones design is inspired by the masthead of the October 31, 1765 “tombstone edition.” This macabre motif symbolized the pending demise of the newspaper due to the Stamp Act, which was about to take effect the following day.

The Stamp Act was a British law that imposed direct taxes on paper and documents in the American colonies. The journal served as a beacon for colonial unity and resistance against British authority. Its coverage of the protests and debates surrounding the Stamp Act contributed to the growing knowledge of the discontent among colonists and helped galvanize support for the revolutionary cause.

This item is packaged in a beautiful black gift box with the original period imagery and historical information vetted by a museum curator. The box is perfect for gifting or storage!
